Easy Apple Crumble

There’s something so comforting about baking apple crumble at home — the sweet cinnamon aroma filling the kitchen, the golden topping crisping in the oven, and that first warm spoonful that always feels like a hug. This one’s made with Royal Gala apples (and a handful of raisins for a little surprise sweetness) — simple, cozy, and just right for sharing.

Here’s how I do it!

5–6 Royal Gala apples, sliced (original recipes use granny smiths)

25g raw sugar

2g ground cinnamon

40g raisins

Crumble Topping

100g plain flour

65g cold unsalted butter, diced

50g raw sugar

Method

1. Make the fruit base

• In a bowl, toss sliced apples with raw sugar, cinnamon and raisins.

• Spread evenly in a baking dish lined with parchment paper.

• Place in a preheated oven at 180°C and bake for 8–10 minutes until the apples start to soften slightly.

2. Prepare crumble topping

• In a separate bowl, stir in flour and raw sugar.

• Rub butter into flour until it forms fine crumbs.

3. Assemble

• Sprinkle crumble mixture evenly over the semi-cooked apple filling.

4. Bake

• Continue to bake at 180°C for another 30–35 minutes, until the topping is golden.

5. Serve

• Enjoy warm with ice cream.
