I’ve owned a pressure cooker before — the non-stick kind — and I used it for the longest time. It worked… until I started cooking rendang in it. After that, the smell just would not come off 😩
Then came the moment of horror: I had to cook rice for a large gathering, used that same pot… and the rice smelled like rendang. NOOOOO. That was it.
I knew I needed an alternative — stainless steel, no smell retention — and that’s when I found the Instant Pot.
For those who don’t know, Instant Pot is a brand of pressure cooker, not the “magic” thermal pot that many of us grew up with. I do own a thermal pot too, but I mainly use it to keep food warm overnight, not to cook proper dishes.
With the Instant Pot, I throw everything in, press a button, and let it do its thing. What used to feel complicated now feels… effortless. And best of all? No lingering rendang-scented rice ever again.
Soups, eggs, one-pot meals—the Instant Pot saves my day. Explore my Instant Pot Recipes!
Buy the Instant Pot here! However, do note this one is a newer design — the model I own is no longer in production.
