Exploring Singapore: Nanyang Sauce

While watching CNA’s Singapore Hour, I came across Nanyang Sauce — a local brand carrying on Singapore’s traditional soy sauce heritage.

Naturally, I had to support local! Their range of artisanal, naturally fermented soy sauces caught my eye, and I couldn’t resist trying them out in my own cooking. From everyday stir-fries to special dishes, it’s exciting to bring authentic, locally crafted flavours straight into the kitchen. While watching CNA’s Singapore Hour, I came across Nanyang Sauce — a local brand carrying on Singapore’s traditional soy sauce heritage.

Here’s what I got!

Premium Brew Light Soy Sauce (S$13.90) — This light soy sauce is naturally fermented in the sun for months, producing a rich umami flavour that’s versatile for dipping, marinating and everyday cooking. It’s a classic staple that elevates seasoning without overpowering.

Premium Brew Dark Soy Sauce (S$13.90) — Dark soy sauce from the same artisanal brew, with deeper colour and a slightly sweeter, more robust profile; great for stir‑fries, braises and adding richness to sauces.

Virgin Brew Light Soy Sauce (S$23.60) — A higher‑grade light soy, also naturally fermented, offering extra depth and complexity; ideal for refined cooking where nuanced flavour matters.

Virgin Brew Light Soy Sauce (Aged 12 Months) (S$36.90) — This premium artisanal brew undergoes extended fermentation and ageing for 12 months, producing a richer, more layered and umami‑forward profile — perfect for finishing dishes or enhancing sauces where flavour is the star.
