Fried Indomie

Plain instant noodles? Nah~ Let’s level up!

Frying Indomie Mi Goreng with garlic, veggies, and eggs takes it to a whole new level — more flavourful, more satisfying, and totally addictive. It’s a hit with both kids and adults.

Whenever we travel to Bali (or anywhere in Indonesia) and stay in an Airbnb with a kitchen, I become the designated supper chef. We always buy a big box of Indomie (some for the trip, most to bring home).

It tastes especially amazing with duck eggs — if only we could get fresh (unsalted) duck eggs in Singapore!

Here’s my go-to recipe, so you can enjoy this simple indulgence too.

Ingredients (serves 3)

3 packs Indomie Mi Goreng

5 stalks xiaobaicai (baby bok choy), chopped

2 eggs (for frying into the noodles)

2 tbsp minced garlic

3 chili padis, sliced (optional)

1 tbsp oil

Indomie seasoning (all 3 packs: shallot oil, kecap manis, chili sauce, seasoning powder)

3 Sunny side up eggs, to serve

Method

1. Cook the Noodles

• Boil the Indomie noodles in a pot of water until just cooked. Drain and set aside.

2. Heat the Oil & Shallot Oil

• In a wok or large pan, heat 1 tbsp oil together with all the shallot oil packets from the Indomie packs.

3. Sauté Garlic and Chili

• Add the minced garlic and sliced chili padi (if using). Stir-fry until fragrant.

4. Add the Eggs

• Crack in the 2 eggs and scramble lightly.

5. Add the Vegetables

• Toss in the chopped xiaobaicai and stir-fry until slightly wilted.

6. Season the Stir-Fry

• Sprinkle in the seasoning powder from the Indomie packs and mix well.

7. Add the Noodles

• Add the cooked noodles to the pan.

8. Finish with Sauces

• Squeeze in the kecap manis and chili sauce packets. Stir everything together until the noodles are evenly coated and glossy.

9. Serve

• Plate up and top with a sunny side up egg. Enjoy hot!

Whether it’s a quick lunch, a late-night supper, or a satisfying anytime meal, this upgraded Indomie recipe is sure to hit the spot. Simple, comforting, and packed with flavour — it’s one of those dishes you’ll keep coming back to.

Give it a try and let me know how yours turns out!
