Simple & Easy Roast Pork

If you love crispy, golden pork skin with juicy, tender meat, this crispy-skinned roast pork is for you! With just a few simple tricks, you can achieve restaurant-quality results in your own kitchen — no overnight prep needed.

Ingredients

1kg pork belly (with skin on)

½ tbsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

Method

1. Prepare the Pork

• If using frozen pork, bring the pork belly to room temperature.

• Pat the pork belly completely dry using paper towels. This helps crisp the skin.

• Poke holes all over the skin using skewers or with a sharp knife.

• Flip the pork over and rub the salt, and pepper onto the meat side (not the skin).

2. Dry & Season the Skin

• Rub salt evenly across the skin and leave it for 10 mins.

• After 10 mins, remove excess water on the skin with a kitchen towel, and repeat the previous step.

• Do this a total of 3 times.

3. Roast the Pork

• Preheat oven to 190°C.

• Place the pork skin-side up at the bottom most rack of the oven.

• Roast for 30 mins.

4. Crisp Up the Skin

• Increase heat to 220°C.

• Transfer pork to middle rack of the oven and roast for another 10-15 mins until the skin puffs up and turns crispy.

5. Rest & Serve

• Let the pork rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

• Serve with rice or eat it as is!
