Feeling lazy but still want something healthy and delicious? This easy steamed fish recipe is the perfect way to whip up a nutritious meal in minutes – no fuss, just fresh flavours!
Here’s how I do it!
Ingredients
1 fish fillet (I prefer threadfin)
5 slices of ginger
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
1/2 tsp sugar
Coriander or spring onions (optional)
Method
1. Prepare marinade
• In a small bowl, mix together 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp sesame oil, and 1/2 tsp sugar.
2. Layer the dish
• Place ginger slices on the base of a heatproof steaming dish.
• Lay the fish fillet on top of the ginger.
3. Marinate
• Pour the marinade over the fish.
• Add some coriander or spring onions on top.
4. Steam
• Set up a wok with boiling water.
• Place the dish on the trivet and cover with a lid.
• Steam on high heat for:
– 7–8 minutes if fillet is thin (under 1.5cm)
– 9–10 minutes if fillet is thicker (up to 2.5cm)
5. Serve
• Remove from wok and serve immediately with warm rice.
